WILD AND FINE

Jewelry Love with Jessica...
Jess

Thank you for being part of our zine.  Tell us more about your beginnings in the industry!

I studied Portugeuse and Spanish at university but, having got my degree, did not feel strongly that I wanted a career based on using my languages. I did a silversmithing course a few years ago and realised that jewellery designing and making was my passion. I trained with local jewellers and  taught at a local jewellery school before setting up my own studio and establishing the Wild & Fine brand.

Where are you located now and where are you originally from?

Originally from Oxford I have retreated to the quiet of the North Cotswolds to make the most of the picturesque and inspirational countryside.

Goals for 2019 and beyond?

W&F was born in January 2019 and it has been an amazing year for us so far. Probably the highlight was winning the Blenheim Palace start ups competition and we are so excited for the opportunities that this is going to give the brand.

What have been the specific challenges in your career so far?  What have been the greatest achievements so far?

Finding the right people to share the journey with you. It is hard work designing and making all the jewelry and keeping on top of the logistics of running a small business, so marketing and promoting it can end up taking a backseat. I was keen not to let this happen, so it was a relief to start working with Hannah and Hayley who totally get my brand and can market it whilst I am busy in the studio or at events.

Where can our readers catch up with you out there soon?

W&F designs are available to buy 24/7 at wildandfine.com, but anyone who may be in the UK in the run up to Christmas will be able to find us at the Blenheim Palace Christmas Market between 23rd November and 16th December.

Please answer the following... "If my followers really knew me,  they would know that... "

I frequently appear as a model for W&F designs on the website and on social media but I feel really awkward in front of the camera and prefer to see other people wearing and enjoying my work.

Who are your top inspirations?

My main source of inspiration is the natural world. I don't feel that anything I create can really match mother nature's handiwork, but it is easier to wear and lasts a bit longer in most cases!

Having accomplished so much in your career, are there more dreams you hope to conquer?

It is great to see W&F growing and developing. I am keen to travel to new places and explore more of the world in search of new ideas and fresh inspiration. I am a keen scuba diver and Belize is next on my wish list as a diving location.

Any words of wisdom for your fans out there?

Be generous with your dreams. Selfishly following your dreams by yourself takes you to a lonely place, even if they all come true. Draw other people in and create successes with them. A pool of talent to drive things forward is better than a lone puddle!
