Midwestern Girls

"Drink Lots of Water...Laugh Often and LOVE YOURSELF!!

Thank you for being part of our zine.  Tell us more about your beginnings in the industry!

    - Thank you for allowing me to be apart of it! I've been singing ever since I was a little girl. It wasn't until after college that I realized I wanted to pursue my career as a singer, and ever since then, I haven't stopped working towards my dream. I dropped everything, packed up my Jeep and drove across the country to Los Angeles. I used to have really bad stage freight, so when I first moved to LA my friends forced me to start performing at open mics around Hollywood. I was hesitant and nervous at first, but from those open mics, I booked some gigs. I started performing more and more around Los Angeles. Growing my confidence and my connections. I was able to meet and network with some other really talented artists, who have become really good friends. Every day I'm growing as an artist and learning how to overcome the challenges in this industry.

Where are you located now and where are you originally from?

-I'm originally from the suburbs of Chicago! I've been in LA about four years now. I'll always be a midwestern girl at heart though.

Goals for 2019 and beyond?

-A big goal of mine is to start saying yes to every music opportunity that comes my way, and to really put myself out there. I want to release more music that's raw and emotional. I want to collaborate more with other talented artists. I would LOVE to start performing in different cities and states. I think a tour might have to be in the books soon? :)

What have been the specific challenges in your career so far?  What have been the greatest achievements so far?

-This industry is not easy, there are so many ups and downs. I think some of the most challenging aspects is that there are always going to be people in the industry who want to shape and mold you into something that's ideal for them, and not for you. You have to stay true to yourself, and not be afraid to embrace your voice, your style, and your image. You have to wholeheartedly and unapologetically be yourself. Just knowing that I have been able to reach so many different people all over the world with my music, is a huge achievement for me. If even one person smiles or enjoys what I create, that's all I can ask for.

Where can our readers catch up with you out there soon?

    - I have a new single called 'Barbie' that is dropping September 20th, I am very excited!! I like to keep everyone updated on my shows, songs, etc. through social media! I like to be connected with my fans as well, so I am always down to answer messages or questions.  @staxximusic

Please answer the following:  "If my fans really knew me,  they would know that... "

-I'm addicted to tacos, or anything extremely spicy!! I'm a little bit shy and awkward sometimes, but I embrace it. You've got to right?? And the only thing that can fix a bad day for me is dogs. Bring me all the dogs.

Who are your top inspirations?

-This is always a tough question because there are so many different artists that inspire me in different ways. Some of my favorites right now include Lauren Daigle, Cloves, Zella Day and Banks. Their voices are incredible and the music just hits your soul.

Having accomplished so much in your career, are there more dreams you hope to conquer?

-Absolutely! I would love love love to tour in Europe. I'll always want to push myself to accomplish new things as they come my way.

Any words of wisdom for your fans out there?

    - Don't be afraid to go after your dreams. It sounds so cheesy, but I mean it. Take that step, and just do whatever you want to do. Life is too short to be unhappy. Oh, and drink lots of water, laugh often, and love yourself.
