THIS LOVE with NICKI KRIS

Hello!  Thank you for sharing some time with us at Bsquared Magazine today!

Hello back, and thank you so much for having me! When did you become a music lover and what does music bring to your life?

I started singing and performing at a very young age, so the love of music has always been there. It wasn't until I got into High School that I really started to appreciate different types of artists and genres and what their uniqueness brought to the table. It was during these years that I really fell "in love" with music.

Music brings so much to my life.  As an avid listener I often binge on my favorites for inspiration when I'm writing a new song, or I might dig through lesser known artists to get a sense of where they might get their own inspiration from.  Music has given me several lasting friendships that I wouldn't necessarily have otherwise.  It's also taken some away or rather forced me to make some hard, but good choices.  The biggest thing that music has given me is the opportunity to speak to other music lovers all over the world by sharing my creations with them. When you're contacted by someone in another country that tells you how much your music means to them, nothing can touch that.

What can we expect to see at one of your LIVE shows!?

I can get loud!  OK, let's say my voice projects. I'm actually a very laid back performer who likes to use her hands a lot. I'm definitely animated. I prefer to perform at smaller, more intimate venues with a small band than a big stage production unless it's a performance with some type of orchestra.  I love those.  I'm probably very similar to what you would see if you went to see Adele perform.  I think we are very similar in that regard.

Who has been your greatest influence?

There are so many wonderful artists and bands that have influenced me over the years.  Pat Benatar was and always will be my idol and biggest influence.  I think I'd lose it if I ever met her in person.  I'm also heavily influenced by Linkin Park and Thirty Seconds to Mars, especially in the last 10 years or so.

Please tell us about your new music!!

I have a brand new single called 'Is This Love' that's out the 2nd week in October.  It's a collaboration with Kitt Wakely and my longtime Producer, Kevin McNoldy. Kitt and I have this one in the works for quite some time, but I finally got around to recording it over the summer. The main melody is actually from one of Kitt's originals called St. Christopher's Journey.  I put a topline on it pretty quickly pulling from the concept of dating and the feeling of falling in love, but you're not sure if the other person feels the same way, and should you go all in?  When we were building the song out for recording we added in the bridge, which totally gives 'Is This Love' it's own identity.

What are you most looking forward to in 2021?

A new year, a fresh start.  This year has been tough. Hopefully, we'll have a vaccine for COVID and I'll be able to schedule some live shows. I do have another single planned for Jan/Feb. and hopefully if everything goes well I'll be kicking off my own collaboration project as part of my Sisters In Music initiative.  LISTEN HERE
