Lipford is an Italian-American Pop artist. Born in Rome in 1985, he plays in the Alternative Rock band MANTRAM for 17 years as guitarist/composer. The dissolution of the band, which took place in January 2019, determines his solo artistic birth. The songs of the latest composition confirm a renewed musical identity. With this solo project, Lipford wants to take new musical paths and open a new chapter in his life. The stated goal is to communicate the emotions that everyday life presents us or simply makes us rediscover. Thank you for taking this interview! How has the New Year been for you so far as an artist? First of all, thank you for offering me this interview.

Let’s say that 2022 has been rather poor in new productions but full of events that have changed my life:

The birth of my son in early January was the most beautiful thing that could ever happen to me.

Obviously, that shifted all my priorities.

The rhythm of 1 single every 2 months as happened in the previous 2 years is now a distant memory but I am not worried.

I am sure I will compensate for these months of absence as soon as the balances of this new life are more familiar to me. Can you tell us how you've transformed from the beginning to now as an artist?

Let’s say I’ve been playing music myself since I was 16. Today I’m 36. In 20 years there have been many transformations.

In my case I played Alternative Rock in a band for 17 years while today I do Pop. Talking about transformations...

Surely this solo project gave me a lot of confidence in myself.

Putting your face in contexts like this means putting yourself in the game. How did you come up with your latest project?

I needed to express my truest, most intimate part and share it with others.

All this is not for people’s approval but to feel alive. I think that composing music is a wonderful gift. I feel so privileged. Where are you from originally?

I am Italian with American origins. Specifically, my father is from San Francisco, California. Where do you live now?

I currently live in Rome. Do you think where you live impacts how your music is made?

Definitely. Personal cultural background totally influences the way you think about your music. What was the inspiration to make music your career?

The awareness of doing something special. Having the audacity to invest in something that is not sure.

Especially nowadays, making music is always unknown. How do you want to shape your career?

It’s been almost two and a half years since this project started.

I laid the groundwork. Now I would like to play live much more often, pandemic permitting, and find a record consistency that allows me to publish regularly. I am satisfied with what has been done so far. I started from practically zero and I created so much in a short time. It is really important to have clear ideas when you start a new path. Do you work on a tight timeline always or do you go with the flow when it comes to your music?

Initially I had a rather rigid schedule as I wanted to create material to shape my artistic profile.

Hence the choice to publish 1 single every 2/3 months. Now, after 10 singles, I follow the flow and try to give the right priority to the upcoming releases. How did your latest title of your music come to be?

"Learn" comes from the desire to welcome new-born with a message of hope and optimism in facing life.

From the moment I knew I was going to be a father, I knew I wanted to leave such a message. Is it hard to let go of the music when it is done?

I don't think so. That’s where the fun comes in. Take care of the release, the artwork, the promotion, the press office...the whole organizing machine for the publication. There is nothing more stimulating. It’s the right closure of the circle that every artist wants to have with their single. Do you feel an emotional attachment with your music?

Absolutely. Every single one is a child. I’m part of me. I can’t question that. How would you describe your music in one word to someone who hasn't listened to it yet?

A hug. I like to imagine my music as an emotional embrace. Hugging is the most universal form of affection. Between friends, family, lovers.

I want to believe that my music can be a relief, a caress and a thrill of musical novelty for those who listen. Where do they go to listen NOW?

You can listen to my music on Spotify, Apple Music and on all digital stores. What has been the best fan reaction to your music?

I will never forget the cry of emotion from a girl who listened to my song. That melody, those words had been so close to her, so intimate that she had reacted so emotionally. Is there anything exciting coming up for you?

I hope so, also because being an independent artist, I have to find as many situations as possible where I can highlight my music. Anyway soon I will go into the studio to record a new single after which I would like to start thinking about a full-length album.

Let’s see. One thing at a time. Let’s follow the flow. Are you performing the song anywhere LIVE?

Not at the moment but soon I will perform live on Instagram, Facebook and bandcamp. Give us all your socials and links so fans can link up with you! Thank you for this interview! Certainly.

Here is my official website and my socials: Thank you for this showcase and opportunity to introduce me to a new audience.
