Born from the gutters of the Mother City, Alive at Midnight are the product of a world gone bad.

Thank you for taking this interview! How has the New Year been for you so far as an artist?

Hi , thanks for having us . 2022 has been pretty good so far , shows are starting up again , we've added a new member to the band ,

Roscoe Randall on guitar, and we've released a new track and video called Dead End Rollercoaster.

Can you tell us how you've transformed from the beginning to now as an artist?

The sound of the band has changed somewhat since its inception . We've also had quite a few member changes but we haven't strayed too far from the ethos of punk rock

How did you come up with your latest project?

We've just released a video for our new single Dead End Rollercoaster . It's a brief glimpse into a crazy, bender of a weekend.

We follow the main character "Natalie" played by Esme Vos , on an adventure through town and witness her getting into all sorts of altercations .

All the band members have a cameo in it and it was filmed and edited by our drummer , Brandon Shore.from Sound Syndicate, in some of our favourite bars in town

Where are you from originally?

Alive At Midnight were born and bred in Cape Town

Where do you live now?

Cape Town

Do you think where you live impacts how your music is made?

Yes absolutely , the inspiration filters in through our experiences and surroundings.

What was the inspiration to make music your career?

Being an underground band in South Africa , it's pretty hard to make a decent career out of it , so we all have our side projects.

Getting together with your buds a few times a week and making music we want to hear and enjoy is all the inspiration we need.

How do you want to shape your career?

We've got some new projects on the horizon , we want to release an EP by the end of the year , we'll be putting on some shows and playing some

festivals and working on some new songs.

Do you work on a tight timeline always or do you go with the flow when it comes to your music?

A bit of both really. It depends on the circumstances . There are times when deadlines need to be met and other times when you need to go with the flow. Both are important and necessary.

How did your latest title of your music come to be?

Dead End Rollercoaster is analogous to life and the lyrics reference the turmoil of a toxic relationship.

Is it hard to let go of the music when it is done?

A song is never finished, only abandoned. They evolve the more you play them.

Do you feel an emotional attachment to your music?

For emotion, by emotion, with emotion.

How would you describe your music in one word to someone who hasn't listened to it yet?

Where do they go to listen NOW?

You can find our stuff on all major digital platforms . YouTube , Spotify , Itunes etc.

Also check out Mongrel Records and take a listen to all the bands they are representing here in S.A.

What has been the best fan reaction to your music?

Well .. Our biggest fan has now joined the band as our 5th member .. Roscoe Randall on guitar. You don't get much better than that.

Is there anything exciting coming up for you?

We'll be opening for the mighty Fuzigish on June 3 at the Daisy Jones Bar in Stellenbosch as they celebrate 25 years of skanking it up!!

Are you performing the song anywhere LIVE?

Everywhere live
