When you think of PAENDA, the first thing that may come to mind is the Austrian artist's magnificent blue hair. But above all, the singer, songwriter, producer, musician and performer is known as a self-determined, authentic pop act who feels just as comfortable in the studio as on the stage. The artist is among the very few women in the music business who produces her songs single-handedly. A "Self Do, Self Have, Self Made" attitude that has already brought her to an audience of millions.

Even as a child, PAENDA is certain: she wants to be making music – come what may. The singer has a go at different genres, does pop, rock and jazz, while also learning to play various instruments. With her entry into the world of music production, the artist suddenly is confronted with new possibilities for tonal development; Electronic pop becomes her new playing field. In 2017, the act PAENDA appears on the scene for the first time; she quickly makes a name for herself, and not just because of her blue hair. In her first songs, her background as a studied musician shows. Tracks like "Good Girl" or "Identity" score with the connection of difficult sound structures and beats with engaging electro-pop melodies. It’s on stage that the musician is completely in her element. At festivals like the Donauinselfest, the DigitalAnalog in Germany or as support for Jessie J, she shows that there is a place where she feels even more at home than in her music studio: the stage. Intoxicating, authentic - the insider tip PAENDA is making a name for herself.

In 2019, her second album "EVOLUTION II“ is being released, which is purposefully striving towards widespread electro pop. At the same time, the singer is being catapulted into the international limelight: As the Austrian representative at the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv, she performs in front of an audience of millions. A real career highlight after only two years – which changes a lot. Concerts as co-headliner of Popfest Vienna or Electric Nation in Graz follow.

PAENDA’s sound is also changing – and evolving, becoming more mature, international, but also more independent. On her own label Sick Kick Records, founded in 2020, she turns to pop sounds in her two EPs "My Heart" and "My Issues", as known from singers like Rita Ora or Halsey. It is only natural that with international and national collaborations PAENDA also takes a step towards EDM in 2021. Tracks like "Animal" with Pule feat. Third Snow or "Deep Vibes" with Maone present her as a talented dance act with a knack for strong hooks. The release radar hits 17 times that year and brings the artist several well-known playlist placements on Apple, Amazon and Spotify, such as the NMF Germany, Dance Brandneu or Shazam's "Best New Songs". The tracks, self-produced and mixed by PAENDA, start sounding more and more authentic.

In 2022, PAENDA will remain true to the direction that has become increasingly clear over the past two years. Numerous in-house productions are already on the way, starting with the EP “POV”, which will be released in May, and international collaborations.

Thank you for taking this interview! How has the New Year been for you so far as an artist? The new year has already been really really busy. With the new EP coming in May and also working on new stuff, I’ve got my hands full. Can you tell us how you've transformed from the beginning to now as an artist?

I would say I now know a lot better what I want to sound like and my definition of success changed. How did you come up with your latest project? The new EP somehow just came together in a rather short period of time. The songs all revolve around the name of the EP „POV“ (point of view) and I think in general this is a topic that bothers me personally. Where are you from originally? I’m originally from Styria, Austria. Where do you live now? I now live in Vienna. Do you think where you live impacts how your music is made? Not at all. Most of my inspiration comes from thinking and talking to people. What was the inspiration to make music your career?

I couldn’t really find a way around it haha. All I ever really loved to do was to make music, so in the end, I think it was the only reasonable career for me. How do you want to shape your career?

I want it in the shape of a heart, always filled with love. Of course it would be cool, if someday I could make a living out of it, but never without happiness and authenticity being the priority. Do you work on a tight timeline always or do you go with the flow when it comes to your music?

Actually it’s a tight timeline most of the time. But that’s ok, I like a little pressure to get stuff done and I’m in the lucky position to not have troubles with being creative under pressure.

How did your latest title of your music come to be?

The last thing I wrote was in a session, I like working with really good songwriters and musicians. Is it hard to let go of the music when it is done?

Sometimes it can be tough to let go of the thought of perfection, because there’s no such thing in art in my opinion. Of course – if you feel like you need more time because it’s not anywhere close to where you want it to be, you should definitely postpone deadlines. Do you feel an emotional attachment with your music?

All of the time! Which is especially weird if I write toplines for others. In the beginning it really felt strange to hear others telling my stories :-D How would you describe your music in one word to someone who hasn't listened to it yet?

Energetic. Where do they go to listen NOW?

Tap PAENDA into your Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple, Youtube etc.

What has been the best fan reaction to your music?

I could never name one best reaction, to me, every fan reaction is the best fan reaction. Is there anything exciting coming up for you?

Besides the upcoming EP I’m currently working with a lot of great musicians and producers, and I’m extremely excited about what the outcome will be. Are you performing the song anywhere LIVE?

We’re currently working on a special EP Release thing, but you’ll have to keep yourselves updated via our socials for more information. Give us all your socials and links so fans can link up with you! Thank you for this interview!
