Lacy, you are making moves in the fashion scene! What do you have planned for the 2022 fashion scene?
Thank you! I have a lot of very exciting plans for the 2022 fashion scene. I am finally building up my career as a professional stylist. It's been my dream for so long, and I'm thrilled to be a part of helping artists refresh and reboot their looks for the new year.
When did you get into fashion?
I got into fashion when I was in elementary school. I was constantly trying to emulate the outfits I would see on TV, even putting on little fashion shows for my family. Back in those days it was all about the OG Y2K look (who remembers Limited Too?), so it was all very fun and experimental. I've never been afraid of trying a new look. From there, I slowly evolved my own personal style into something that takes inspiration from the latest trends while staying true to my individuality. I'd say my signature look is something basic and laid back with at least one statement/trend piece, like a fun boot or cool jacket.
First job in fashion?
My first job in fashion was as the Associate Producer/Content Manager of a digital fashion magazine that covered Ready-to-Wear, Menswear, and beauty trends.
What is a trend you always make sure to follow?
The #1 trend I always make sure to follow is shoes. Right now I'm super into platforms, especially the Converse high tops. You'll rarely catch me wearing something without at least a 2 inch sole! Whereas a couple years ago I pretty much wore the same pair of Western-inspired booties every single day. I also would say that lately there's been a huge shift in denim trends - I can't tell you the last time I wore a pair of skinny jeans. It's all about the straight and wide leg these days!
What is a trend that is a NO everytime?
In my book, there is no trend that is off-limits. Wear what makes you feel good! Who cares what others think about what you are wearing, what matters most is that you feel confident in it. Confidence is the best thing anyone could wear - it will never go out of style.
Who are top three in your fashion book?
My top three designers are Each Other, Anine Bing, and Saint Laurent. In terms of celebrity style, I look to people like Miley Cyrus, Jeff Goldblum, and Florence Given.
Any advice you got from a fellow stylist that you hold dear to you?
The best advice I ever got is to just be yourself and stop worrying about what everyone else is doing. Comparison is the thief of joy.
What advice would you give to someone aspiring to be a part of the fashion industry?
I would advise anyone aspiring to be a part of the fashion industry to keep up with Fashion Week. Designers show collections that set the trends for upcoming seasons, so if you want to know what will be popular for Fall/Winter 2022, you will know at the beginning of the year, and vice versa - it's always one season ahead.
How are you making your mark in the fashion world?
I hope to make my mark in the fashion world by inspiring people to be more confident in the way they look. Whether that means trying a new style or honing in on their current one, a good outfit genuinely changes the way you carry yourself.
