TAKE ON YOU with CHRISTOPHER GRIFFITHS

Where are you located now and where are you originally from? I've been in Nashville, Tennessee for 17 or so years, but I’m originally from Michigan.  Who has been your greatest influence? Probably Butch Walker or Springsteen. I like artists of musical integrity. Or maybe Madonna, I love how she is constantly reinventing herself. If we’re being honest this answer will probably change as fast as a dial flips through radio stations. What is your latest and greatest? My new single comes out on October 29th called, “Take on Me.” All of the instruments are played by me and it was all done in my house. The song is about knowing your own value by carrying another’s burden as an act of kindness. And I actually played a telephone book in it, which is very cool. As far as other people’s records, right now, I’m pretty obsessed with Janelle Monae’s last two records. Also, St. Vincent’s Masseduction record. As far as greatest, I always return to Tom Petty’s Wildflowers record and Prince’s Sign of the Times. Both of those records are musical gold mines. What are you most looking forward to in 2021? Frigging touring. I like rambling on a Facebook stream just as much as the next guy, but I’m ready to be sleeping in a van and visiting new places. What would you say to your younger self if you could?   Anyone who gives advice in a permanent manner, like that’s just the way it is or it always has to be this way, doesn’t really know what they’re doing. The world is always changing and you have to be ready to change with it. Also don’t take musical advice from people who can’t play a D chord. On a scale from ONE to TEN, how driven are you? I'd say ten. I basically made my last two records by myself, and I’ve slept in my car for months just to play music for a living. I’ve even played with broken fingers. It’s kind of like, “what’s that guys problem?” How much do you believe LUCK plays a role in success? I believe luck is a bi-product of hard work and incredible awareness. You make luck by being open to opportunity. I guess I believe in luck, but I don’t believe in dumb luck.  How can we stay up to date with you?
