Elin Wolf - Swedish Singer, Songwriter and “Skogsrå”

Wolf is a singer and songwriter who has traveled the world bringing the Swedish melancholia and love of nature to her music. She finds her inspiration through personal experiences and nordic mythology. For Wolf music is therapy, a way to empower herself and the listener to find their way in life.

Wolf grew up on a small Island in Sweden. She had music pumping through her veins since she was young sitting on her dad's lap playing piano. With Wolf’s dad being a former Hammond organ player in the progressive rock band “Motvind” and with her producer second cousin, Max Martin, music flows through her blood.

Starting violin at 6 and beginning to sing by her late teens, Wolf didn't discover her writing ability until 25. She now has over 70,000 listens on Spotify for the track Nighttrain to Yosemite. Wolf has even garnered praise from industry heavyweights Robin Mortensen Lynch, who has written for artists such as Pink, and Justin Timberlake.

Since arriving in LA, Wolf has played at The Mint, Rainbow Bar, Troubadour, and The Viper Room. Before, she performed at the prestigious music festival - Way Out West In Gothenburg, toured Eastern Europe, performed at Swedish National Radio 4 and at Volvo Car events in Beijing. Wolf also helped organize the first female music producer festival in Europe,“EQ loves music”, and was the president of “Musikklubben- House of World, Jazz and Soul”, an influential live music club in Gothenburg Sweden.

Thank you for taking this interview! What has 2022 been like for YOU as artists?

Things have been picking up after covid. I’ve played lots of shows and started to record my full length album. It’s been a good start of the year.

Can you tell us how you've transformed from the beginning to now as an artist?

I’ve been focusing on my solo career more than my band this year. I’ve become a better solo artist and I’m learning a lot from the process of recording my album.

How did you come up with your latest project? I’ve been working on the songs for my album Wolfwoman for almost 2 years. It’s inspired by the book Women who run with the wolves by Clarissa pinkola estes that I read when Covid hit. Where are you from originally?I’m from Gothenburg, Sweden Where do you live now? Marina del Rey, Los Angeles Do you think where you live impacts how your music is made? Not right now but I go out in nature to get inspiration.

What was the inspiration to make music your career?

I’ve done music in many ways my whole life. I was sitting in my dad's lap singing isn’t she lovely by Stevie Wonder already when I was 3. My dad is a musician. How do you want to shape your career? My dream is to tour 3-4 months a year and to have my own studio in a nice house outside of LA recording the rest of the year.

Do you work on a tight timeline always or do you go with the flow when it comes to your music? When it comes to recording I set a timeline but I would be flexible because the quality comes first.

How did your latest title of your music come to be? The album I’m doing now Wolfwoman came from the book I mentioned earlier. I was very inspired by that.

Is it hard to let go of the music when it is done? I don’t really let go of it cause I always perform it in my shows Do you feel an emotional attachment with your music?

Yes, my music is like therapy for me, it’s about live, breakups, my mental struggles, love of nature, dreams so it’s personal.

How would you describe your music in one word to someone who hasn't listened to it yet? Folkrock with a lot of soul Where do they go to listen NOW? What has been the best fan reaction to your music? I love when people come up and say my music touched them on a personal level. Is there anything exciting coming up for you? I’m playing at a festival, Folknsoak, in Paso Robles this weekend. Then the Mint in Los Angeles June 2 and many times at Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood this summer. You can find the information about this in my Instagram! I’ve got a single release to June 17! Are you performing the song anywhere LIVE? Yes see above Give us all your socials and links so fans can link up with you! Thank you for this interview! Instagram: @elin.wolf
