LITTLE ADVENTURES with MARK AND THE TIGER

When did you become a music lover and what does music bring to your life?  I’m sure this is the token response, but I honestly cannot remember a time when music wasn’t important to me. When I was an itty bitty baby my mom would sing to me all the time. That must have set the tone for my life because I’ve been singing since I’ve been able to speak. Music has always been ever-present. It’s a source of comfort for any occasion, the perfect way to express yourself when you can’t get the words right.  What can we expect to see at one of your LIVE shows?  Hopefully, a fucking good time! But really it depends on the venue. I love doing gigs with a full band, the music blasting, glitter flying off my face. But sometimes it gets pretty intimate. I think the through-line is the story. I have a lot of them and my songs are full of them. I always like to tell the stories behind the songs I write when I do gigs. I think it makes it all much more personal. And I love inviting the audience into my world in that little way.  Who has been your greatest influence?  As an artist? Definitely people like Stevie Nicks, Florence Welch, Dar Williams, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell…. You get the idea. I grew up on a lot of folk music and I find that the artists I’m most drawn to and inspired by are all incredible storytellers. That’s my favorite part of music I think: its ability to tell stories.  What would you tell your younger self if you could?  STOP WORRYING ABOUT WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK!!!  Please tell us about your new music! I’d love to! I’ve got a new EP coming out on Halloween called Little Adventures. It’s a collection of 6 songs, plus an acoustic version of one and a radio edit of another. I’ve worked on all of these songs for the past couple of years and I’m excited to finally get them all out there in one space. I’ve been on a quest to find what my “sound” is as an artist. It’s been a real journey towards authenticity. I’m not sure any of these songs have really captured who I am completely, but they all represent a different adventure on the road that’s brought me to where I am today. I think of this EP as a beautiful prologue to the debut Album I’m working on.   What are you most looking forward to in 2021?  I cannot wait to be on a stage in front of a live audience again! It’s been way too long! And I’m also just excited to work on new music. I'm ready for anything!  INSTAGRAM
