Keep reading to find out the fun fact in Christy Klotz's latest release, "Let's Go"!!!
Hi Christy! Thanks for being here!
Hey! Thanks for having me!
How does your music affect the world?
I hope each song affects listeners differently. Perhaps they will feel understood and known, or it makes them dance, or causes them to reflect, or to be reassured. I’m grateful each time a song can become a part of someone’s life path or special moment.
Who has been your biggest cheerleader as an artist?
My husband, Marcus. He thinks I’m more talented than I am and I love him for it.
Tell us about your latest release!
“Let’s Go!” is a fun one. I wrote the chorus last year. I started to freak out when I turned 25. It seemed like everyone coming on the scene as an artist was younger than me and I put a lot of pressure on myself to get where I wanted to go, and quickly. So this was a song I sang over myself to get a better perspective on everything. I finished it up after I turned 26 (hence the first verse: “26 seemed so far away…”). Fun fact: the bridge comes from Justin Bieber’s tattoo that says “better at 70.” I love that. It takes the pressure off. We have a lot of life to live! I think it’s emotionally uplifting, motivational, and fun.
What are you most looking forward to in 2021?
Hopefully the end of the pandemic! I’m sure that would be everyone’s answer!
How do you find peace in an often chaotic world?
I’ve been learning more and more to trust God, but it’s not always easy. Life can be scary and crazy sometimes. I’ve taken up journaling in the mornings which helps, and being careful that I’m speaking in a way that’s healthy. I like going on walks, or sometimes just taking a nap! I also, of course, love writing music and singing. I feel like it brings something beautiful out of something messy. If I don’t do it every day I get pretty irritable.
What does "making it" mean to you?
Ah, yes, the age-old question: How do we define success? Of course, I have goals and milestones that I would like to reach in music - and most include reaching many people. But I’m sure that when I do there will be more, and more, and more. Always something more. And I don’t necessarily think that’s a bad thing. It’s good to stay motivated and excited about things. But maybe it’s more about the journey than a destination. So I guess I’m kind of “making it” right now. I mean, I’m healthy, I’ve got a roof over my head, good food, a beautiful marriage, a very needy dog, and I get to make music for whoever is willing to listen. I think “making it” is kind of a mindset, and I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be today.
What have been some of your greatest achievements as an artist?
I first wrote and put out a record with a group called Well Collective Music. Then in 2020, I started releasing music on my own and was able to put out 6 songs. I also wrote and illustrated a book of poems called Perspectives: poems to a dear friend, started a podcast called "Minty Dreams", and graduated with my Master’s in Ministry.
