Know more about Branson Anderson!

Where are you located now and where are you originally from? Originally from a town near Las Vegas, Nevada called Logandale. Currently, I'm residing in Saint George, Utah working as a plumber plumbing swimming pools. Who has been your greatest influence? My greatest influence for music has been The White Stripes. My mom introduced me to the Beatles in elementary school and my brother later introduced me to Led Zeppelin, but in middle school when I really started listening to The White Stripes, it sparked a whole new interest in rock and roll music. They also in a roundabout way helped me discover Bob Dylan who is my greatest writing influence. What is your latest and greatest? My latest and greatest influence is Dave Van Ronk. I had heard his name when reading here and there about the sixties Greenwich Village scene but had never gotten into his music until after I realized the Coen Brothers movie Inside Llewyen Davis was loosely based on him. He has had a profound impact on my playing style in just the few years I have been listening to him. Are you performing LIVE soon? I am opening for a band called The Backseat Lovers in some midwest/east coast/southern dates for most of the month of October. What would you say to your younger self if you could? Don't get into music. Go to tech school. On a scale from ONE to TEN, how driven are you? Right now, I'm not very driven towards music. I have a good thing going with my job I'm working at now so I'm trying to figure out which path I'm going to go down. I'm a little tired of everything that comes with being a musician, because in this day in age, being a musician means you spend 10 percent of work on music and performing and 90 percent on marketing and promoting yourself. Hence the reason there's so much lazy music being created and consumed. It's all that people know anymore. I started playing music to be a musician, not a marketer. So I'd rather be a truck driver or a plumber or a mechanic than a musician for that reason. For work, 10. For music, 4. When you're not feeling motivated how do you get back on track? If I start working hard, long hours at a physically demanding job and there's no time spent on reading and writing, I get motivated to read and write more. When I'm not working and I'm living off of gigs and savings with all the time in the world for writing, I'm not motivated to. I think a lot of us are like that. We always say what we'd do if we had free time but when we have the free time we never follow through. How much do you believe LUCK plays a role in success? I guess it depends. I know a lot of people who are where they are in the music industry because they were smart and made significant sacrifices and worked very hard and persevered. I also know people who have just had success handed to them so it goes both ways. How can we stay up to date with you?
