Interview with Isobel Stoneman:
Thank you for taking this interview! What has 2022 been like for YOU as an artist?
It is the start of everything, I have been playing around for ages but not releasing anything and now I finally have!
Can you tell us how you've transformed from the beginning to now as an artist?
I've always loved music, singing, dancing, anything music related. But my world came crashing down when I got kicked out of choir in year 7 for being “tone deaf”, ever since then I’ve just worked on my voice myself and grown. My single Aussie Heat is very punk but I have a whole other vocal range I want to work with as well.
How did you come up with your latest project?
Over the time I have written so many lyrics and they are always sad and emotional and angry. I just wanted to write something fun, something that can be an anthem.
Where are you from originally?
Where do you live now?
Still in Australia LOL
Do you think where you live impacts how your music is made?
Well my song is called Aussie Heat so I would say YES. But being an artist in Australia is definitely tricky, so you're constantly looking for something to make you unique to get noticed in other countries.
What was the inspiration to make music your career?
Music has always made me feel good, in the words of billy Elliot “I can't really explain it, I haven’t got the words, it's a feeling you can't control”
How do you want to shape your career?
I spent way too long thinking about what I wanted it to be and how I pictured it, I never ended up getting anywhere. So the plan now is to just let it take its course.
Do you work on a tight timeline always or do you go with the flow when it comes to your music?
Definitely go with the flow.
How did your latest title of your music come to be?
Hahaha, I think that one is self explanatory.
Is it hard to let go of the music when it is done?
I’m always thinking of wacky things I'd love to do with my songs, things to make them stand out and unique! If anyone wants to add a trumpet/sax solo to Aussie Heat, pls let me know.
Do you feel an emotional attachment with your music?
It's weird because I don’t think I have fully come to the realisation that I’ve actually made music, I listen to it and I’m like nah that’s not me hahah
How would you describe your music in one word to someone who hasn't listened to it yet?
Australian Summer Anthem
Where do they go to listen NOW?
What has been the best fan reaction to your music?
My cousin who lives in the UK sent me a text, it was a screenshot of her phone lock screen and she was listening to Aussie Heat.
Is there anything exciting coming up for you?
I have some stuff I am more working on for sure.
Are you performing the song anywhere LIVE?
I am focusing more on promoting Aussie Heat and producing some follow up tracks before I do anything live. But if you know anyone wanting a live performance I wont say no.
Give us all your socials and links so fans can link up with you! Thank you for this interview!
