Get to Know Iris Lune!

Where are you located now and where are you originally from? Originally from Israel but I've been living in NYC for the past seven years, and I love it! Who has been your greatest influence? Bjork, James Blake, Bon Iver, Radiohead, Florence + the Machine. What is your latest and greatest? I'm currently working on a visual album called Home is Where. It's a collaboration with ten dancers and visual artists from around the world. I'm extremely excited about it. It's very involved on my end as I'm managing the whole thing, writing and producing everything on my own. But I guess that's what also makes it so thrilling aside from working with incredibly talented artists obviously. Are you performing LIVE soon? Nothing in the books at the moment, mostly working in my studio on new material. What are you most looking forward to in 2022? Ideally for this whole pandemic to evaporate. But since that's not going to happen anytime soon I'm really hoping it won't keep spreading so much. I can't wait to see my family and friends abroad. I'm also really looking forward to continuing to watch my two year old kiddo grow more and more into himself and to meet my brand new nibling! How did you deal with all the changes in the past two years that the music industry has gone through? What would you say to your younger self if you could? Be kind to yourself. I love you. On a scale from ONE to TEN, how driven are you? Depends on the context but it usually goes between 6-10. When you're not feeling motivated how do you get back on track? Listening to new music helps (new to me, not necessarily new to the world) How much do you believe LUCK plays a role in success? I think that luck is crucial but that success can't happen without hard work and passion. I used to think that hard work was enough, but the older I get the more I'm aware of how luck plays a big role in having a successful career. To be honest, I think that a bigger and even more important question is what does it mean to be successful. I'm currently trying to unlearn the cookie-cutter definition of being a successful musician and building my own version of that. Do I love what I do? Yes. Am I making a living only from music? Yes. Do I believe in what I do? Sure, otherwise I would be doing something else. So, while I'm not completely where I want to be career-wise I'm getting closer every day, and honestly.. I'm super excited about it all. How can we stay up to date with you?
