Dolapo Akinkugbe, who goes by the stage name DAP The Contract, won Second Place in the International Songwriting Competition for the Music Video category, with the video for his song “Nobody Like You.” Coming from a very musical family, DAP started playing piano at the age of 4 and passed his ABRSM Grade 8 piano exam at the age of 13 with distinction. After attending Berklee College of Music for two semesters DAP released his first mixtape GoodBye For Now. The music video that won DAP The Contract Second place, “Nobody Like You,” starts out like an old fashioned silent film with a really cool piano piece in the background to set the stage for this love song. There is then a shift in the music and the video to a more modern style with a very melodic guitar chord progression. DAP has such great lyrical flow in “Nobody Like You” and a catchy chorus that listeners can sing along to. I had the opportunity to interview DAP The Contract about his musical journey thus far and what he has in store for the near future.
