New Moves and why she believes that YOU too can do anything you set your heart on!!

Thank you for being part of our zine. Tell us more about your beginnings in the industry!

I originally was interested in being an actress. I started out by going to a performing arts school in the theater department and then going on to get a bachelor’s degree in theater performance. I did some stage, TV and film acting jobs and really enjoyed all of them. Towards the end of college I needed to do an internship and ended up getting one at a Miami radio station. I quickly fell in love with radio and entertainment news.

Where are you located now and where are you originally from?

I am currently in LA but I am originally from Washington DC. I have moved around quite a bit and have lived in Miami, Wisconsin, New York and Connecticut.

Goals for 2019 and beyond?

I have been through so many ups and downs so far that I try to just go with the flow and let the universe guide me to my next step. Ideally I would love to do red carpet interviews while also hosting my own show to help launch people as they begin their journey. I ultimately hope to inspire people to take those scary and much needed leaps to push their lives and careers into new places. I like to be open and honest and I hope to show the world that we are all going through things but we can do anything! I also hope to make people smile and feel good about themselves.

What have been the specific challenges in your career so far? What have been the greatest achievements so far?

One of the hard parts is being a woman of color and having to fight hard to be heard and seen as more than just that. I have had so many situations where people have approached me in uncomfortable ways that i had to talk my way out of just because I am a woman. I have been tried and underestimated because of that. Also having anxiety can be tough part for me! Loving to work in entertainment yet having this thing can sometimes be crippling makes things a lot harder but also so much more rewarding when I accomplish things.

My biggest achievement was being a morning show host on HOT 93.7 in Connecticut. It was such an amazing job and I had so many wonderful opportunities as a result. One of the hardest decisions I have ever made was to leave there to move to LA. I had to take a scary chance to try something new but I absolutely loved and miss my time at HOT 93.7.

Where can our readers catch up with you out there soon?

Find me at the beach soaking up the sun! Oh and also on The Be A Force Podcast everyday!

Please answer the following... "If my followers really knew me, they would know that... "

I am obsessed with pickles and crabs lol !!  Also I somehow make a joke about pretty much everything! I am always looking to laugh! Oh and I LOVE Pinterest! I pretty much Pinterest everything from recipes to decorating tips and outfits.

Who are your top fashion inspirations?

Fashion inspiration comes from everywhere for me. I don’t know that I have any one particular person that inspires me. I like to go with what makes me feel good at the time. Generally speaking I keep it fairly simple, I like neutral colors and pieces that can be dressed up or dressed down. I like my outfits to look effortless and still be comfortable.

I also LOVE wearing heels! I’m learning to wear flats and sneakers because of an ankle injury, but heels are my go to!

Having accomplished so much in your career, are there more dreams you hope to conquer?

I would love to be on a talk show! I also love working with children so speaking to kids and encouraging teens to take life by the horns and be strong! I also think I would love to be on a morning show again… or maybe an afternoon drive show.

It might sound random but I would also love to have my own mascara line. I love lashes!

Any words of wisdom for your fans out there?

Life can be hard and we are all going through something but…. We got this! We can do it! No matter how hard it is to get out of bed in the morning, to take that chance, to start over at the most inconvenient time… somehow it always works out. Keep your head up! It will be ok! If it’s not ok then it’ not the end. It’s tough sometimes but DO NOT give up!
