Fantastic Mr. Marcel
MUSIC. PASSION. LIFE.
ANIMALS... Out Nov 20th
Thank you for being part of our zine. Tell us more about your beginnings in the industry!
Well I started out pretty much listening to a lot of music and singing along to it with the door so loud. I sang a lot almost every day and I was really bad at it so my mum was always telling me to be quiet. I just really love the feeling I got when I was doing it so I started commenting pen to paper to write my own music and it went from there really.
Where are you located now and where are you originally from?
I’m located in the heart of Streatham, I was born in London but my parents are of Ghanaian and Mauritian decent so I’m a mix of the two, I did spend a lot of my living in America.
Goals for 2019 and beyond?
My goals for 2019 would be to put out my first single then release the album. It’s not an impossible achievement but it’s taken me about 2 years to get my new material together and there’s been so much change and growth in me as a person, performer and musician. So that’s my aim for 2019 to be able to share a new side of me with the listeners, as for beyond well I’ve got a lot of tricks up my selves for the fans and the will just have to stay tuned to see what happens next. A magician never reveals his tricks.
What have been the specific challenges in your career so far? What have been the greatest achievements so far?
One of the hardest challenges for me was recording and putting out my first mixtape “stop Calling Me Names” I found it very daunting, I’m quite a reserved person and everything was exposed in open for the world to see, they knew exactly how you were thinking and feeling and honestly it felt like being naked on a stage with everyone watching.
A great weight was lifted, but then once that was complete; it was straight into action I had this urge of
“what are my next steps” “ can I make my next one better” “ what did I like, what would I change” I’m all for growth, challenge and progression, I put hours days and months in trying to create a perfect master piece .
One of the most challenging parts of making music would be this year; I decided to write three albums, a year from releasing my mixtape but I wanted to make sure I showed a journey of growth, I wanted to ensure I was staying true to who I am and making the essence of what I like about myself by tweaking it either a lot or a little just to see the outcome.
My greatest achievement to date would most defiantly be finding myself and getting to know more about me. It’s taken me a long time to actually get here to feel happy and content and that feeling is something I couldn’t be more proud of.
Where can our readers catch up with you out there soon?
Well you can catch up with me online though my social media, or hopefully at a gig soon in the near future once I release my new album.
Please answer the following: "If my fans really knew me, they would know that... "
If my fans knew me, they would know that I’m crazy, fun, positive, wild and the life of the party.
Who are your top inspirations?
I’m inspired by different people & different cultures, I’m inspired by animals, I’m inspired by experience, I’m inspired by movies, I am inspired by everything for conversations with friends to real life situations and scenarios . For this new album I have been inspired by animals.
Having accomplished so much in your career, are there more dreams you hope to conquer?
I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to come this far doing simply what I love, and for me that is successful enough. With that said I would like to reach as many people as possible with my music. I would like to share my gift with the world and hopeful heal or help them in anyway. I’ve always loved to perform at the o2 arena so I guess that would be a dream to accomplish and conjure then see what happens next.
Any words of wisdom for your fans out there?
Happiness is a choice, chose to do what makes you happy, find what you love and let it kill you. Live everyday like it’s your last, take risk, be happy be open and be dope! Whatever you do in life do it for the right reasons, but most importantly do everything you do with feeling.
Please list your social media links so our readers can follow you everywhere!

Give us some background of this new release!!
The new release should be out by the end of November and it’s called Superior animals.
The song is about my current state of being, I’m easy to love but hard to please hence the title superior. I get bored very easily so I enjoy going out and meeting new people.
For me a superior animal is a person whose aura and energy is incredible when you meet them for the first time, so ones whose energy is attractive because of who they and what they seem like upon impact and the essence and everything of what makes them who they are when you meet them. A superior animal is a rare find or someone who has and incredible energy, but also has substance, is cool and has all the moves.
The song talks about my transformation from night to night to gaining my confidence to also aiming to be my version of a superior animal. Exponentially it’s about growth strength and change or transformation into one.
THANK YOU MARCEL!
