SONG OF THE YEAR
How did you get started in the industry?
I moved to Nashville at the age of 20. Met my vocal coach Dave Brooks started taking vocal lessons with him and he introduced me to my producer Kenny Royster and we recorded my first EP in 2017 released it in 2018 and ever since then I’ve had industry people reaching out. It’s connection after connection.
Where are you from originally?
I am from a small town called Metamora, Illinois.
Who are your biggest inspirations?
My biggest inspirations female Carrie Underwood and Male Keith Urban
What is your greatest accomplishment yet?
I would say my greatest accomplishment is winning Song Of the Year at the 2019 Josie Music Awards for my song off my EP album Every Storm.
Who are your biggest supporters?
My biggest supporters is my mom, she does anything for me to make my music dream come true.
What do you love most about your work?
I would say what I love most about my work is it’s my whole life story, it is real and authentic and yet it tells my story but other people hear my songs and go yeah I remember that or that brings back the time I went through this. I love that the audience can interpret their own stories.
What is something you have struggled with in your career?
The thing I have struggled most in my career is my health in and out of hospitals but yet still recording, but the setbacks that I experience is what I struggle the most with.
What advice would you give to young girls looking to do what you're doing?
My advice to young girls would be don’t give up on your dream fight and overcome every obstacle that comes your way and no matter what struggle you face you can still achieve your dream. Don’t let anyone ever tell you you can’t, because you can. Work hard and dive headfirst info your passion for music. Write and play as much as you can. Enjoy the journey and soak up every moment.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years I hope to be touring with other artists. Moving up and playing stadium shows and hoping to make my Grand Ole Opry debut. I also hope to share that dream with someone.
How have things changed for you in the past couple of years?
The biggest thing that has changed for me is I have grown as an artist, the way I write and the songs I have really changed a lot for me. Getting more attention from the industry and really growing my fan base.
Anything coming up that you're looking forward to?
Yes I have a couple things coming up that I’m looking forward to. Performing at CRS 2020, going on radio tour. In the middle of something that will be announced very soon. Also have a new single coming out at the end of this month and I am really excited about this one and it is very different from anything I have ever done.
Best self-care tips for when you're exhausted and overworked?
The best self-care tips is face masks, soak in the tub and unwind. Lots of rest and drink Tea and add honey and lemon and of course drink water. Eat healthy and rest vocals.
